The Golden Woody Tournament Rules

What is the Golden Woody?

Quite possibly the best softball tournament in Wisconsin.

ARC LIMIT: Arc limit is 6-12 feet. Any ball not 6-12 feet will be called dead ball in air and will result in a ball. The batter has the option to swing.

COUNT: 2 balls for a walk. 1 swing and a miss or letting the ball drop on the mat for a strike is an out. On a foul ball the batter gets one more strike.

BATS: Only bats provided by the tournament are allowed.

RUN RULE : 20 runs after 4 innings, 12 runs after 5 innings.

ROSTER : Open Roster, meaning players do not need to be listed on the roster. But players may only play for one team.

SPIKES: No metal spikes.

COURTESY RUNNER: Courtesy runners are allowed. They must be the last out.

OVERTHROWS: On an overthrow that leaves the field of play, runners get the base they are running to plus an additional base.

MIN PLAYERS : Teams need at least 8 players to begin a game

MAX PLAYERS : Teams may bat 16 players and rotate in any manner in the field. Players do not have to play the field.

HOME RUNS : Unlimited Home Runs

SPECIAL RULES

3 POINTERS

The last batter in the line-up is worth three runs if he scores.

    1. THE PLAYER MUST WEAR A YELLOW VEST WHILE BATTING AND ON BASE . If the player fails to wear the vest he will not count for three runs.
    2. TEAMS MUST BAT AT LEAST 10 PLAYERS to be eligible for a 3 pointer.
    3. THERE CAN BE NO COURTESY OR PINCH RUNNER FOR A 3 POINTER. If a pinch or courtesy runner comes in, he is only worth 1 run.
    4. If the 3 pointer WALKS, he automatically GETS SECOND BASE. This is to discourage teams from walking the 3 pointer

DO-OVERS

Each team is allowed one defensive and offensive do-over PER GAME . When a team uses a do-over, everything goes back to what it was before the play occurred and THE BATTER recieves a fresh count.

    1. Do-overs need to be used before the next pitch
    2. The home plate umpire will confirm the use of the do-over with the team captain.

WHEEL of FORTUNE

At the beginning of the third inning, before batting, each team will send a representative to spin the Wheel of Fortune

    1. The task must be completed in the 3 rd inning to win the prize.
    2. The Wheel will not be used on Sunday games.

DETERMINATION FOR HOME FIELD

There is no coin toss

    1. Home field will be decided by Rock, Paper, Scissors between team captains and home plate umpire.
    2. Rock crushes scissors, scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock

UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT: Any player removed from a game for unsporstmanlike conduct will be ineligible for the REST OF THE TOURNAMENT. Any player breaking a bat do to misuse will also be ineligible for the REST OF THE TOURNAMENT.

REFUNDS: A team which withdraws prior to the preparation of the schedules will be refunded 75% of its entry fee. A team which withdraws after the schedules have been prepared will be refunded 50% of its entry fee IF a replacement team can be found. No refund for any reason will be made after the schedules have been prepared UNLESS a replacement team is found.

POSTPONEMENT : If rain prevents completion of the tournament as scheduled, the tournament director will determine how to complete the tournament, such as reducing finals to single-elimination limiting games to 5 innings or postponing the competition to a later date. The Toilet Bowl Tournament will be eliminated if the 3 rd field is needed to complete the “regular” portion of the tournament. All possible efforts will be made to play the games. No refund will be made to any team that withdraws or is unable to complete play.

CARRY-INS: No carry-ins are allowed. Teams carrying in food or beverages will be asked to dispose of items. If teams do not comply, they will forfeit their next game(s), be eliminated from the tournament, and be banned from future tournaments.
